Pre-trial therapy
Pre-Trial Therapy (PTT) refers to therapy you take part in while the criminal justice process is on-going, before the case has gone to trial.
Unlike our usual trauma informed counselling where you have the freedom to explore what matters to you most, the primary purpose of PTT is to help alleviate distressing symptoms and support you in getting through the court process. We will not stop you from talking about what has happened to you but the main aim of your PTT will be to enable you to cope in the present day rather than to reflect to the past or look to the future.
Only you can decide if PTT would benefit you. Some people prefer to wait until court proceedings are ended. The most important thing is for you to receive the support you need, when you need it. The waiting time for the criminal justice process to complete can be long and the impact of that wait can take a toll on you. PTT can support you in developing coping strategies to get you through this difficult time.
All of our team have attended specific training to deliver PTT.
There are guidelines we must follow if we are to support you properly in the criminal justice process. You can find more information on the Crown Prosecution Service.
PTT can be delivered online, by telephone, or on our premises in Chippenham, Salisbury, Swindon, and Trowbridge.
